C# / VB.NET DEVELOPER
General Description
An company based in North London is looking for an
C# / VB.NET Developer to focus on new product development and maintenance of existing systems.
We are ideally looking for 3 years of commercial experience including 2 years of.NET development experience, an understanding of OO concepts and strong database skills.
Ideally, you will have recent exposure to COM+, .Net Remoting , and in general have a good hand on distributed applications, and like to keep up to date with the latest technology.
You will ideally have a decent Degree in a numerate discipline, a Microsoft certification, and will have previous software house or product development experience.
Travel industry experience and knowledge of Amadeus/Sabre is a bonus.
Experience / Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years IT experience
- Good general standard of education - Degree in a numerate discipline a bonus!
- Microsoft certification
- Previous experience of developing IT software systems
- Travel Industry or similar background preferred
Skills
- C# Or similar .Net language with good understanding of OO design.
- .Net Framework V1.1 System Class Libraries
- XML, XSLT: Candidate must be experienced in understanding and creating XML documents, schemas and transformations
- SQL 2000: Candidate must have a solid knowledge of SQL Server and T-SQL
- Visual Source Safe: Candidate should be experienced and comfortable with all aspects of configuration management including branching of code, merging, labelling using this tool.
- Distributed Application: Candidate should have a sound knowledge of Windows distributed systems using COM+, .Net Remoting, Enterprise services, MSMQ,Web Services.
- HTML / ASP.NET / Client Scripting: Candidate must have a good practice of designing Web applications within the .NET Framework
- Good analytical skills & problem solving skills
- Resilience - Remains calm and self-controlled under pressure.
- Quality Orientation - Maintains high professional standards and gets things right first time.
- Desirable: MySQL, Sabre, Amadeus
Responsibilities
There is a mix of both development and maintenance work within the team. This job description is generic and hence some staff may spend more time on development activities and others on support work. Activities include:
- Coding and testing new products
- Enhancing existing application
- Building, testing and deploying new installations
- Coding and testing of big fixes
- Application monitoring

- Salary up to £32K plus benefits.
